Everywhere you look.
Metal hardware is all over the runways, magazines, fashion and beauty blogs and, hence, all over the fashion stores online and offline, typically in the form of studs, spikes, and grommets.
I must admit my first reaction was FEAR.. Come on! Look at those sharp pointed spikes and dare to blame ME for feeling that way! Yes, my first question was "Is this trend even safe" ?
I know, I sounded like an old lady right there... what can I do? I'm just trying to be honest!
Second reaction was "Heavy Metal, Hard Rock ! ... Yum! I wish there was a Hard Rock Cafe nearby..." LOL There wasn't one, by the way :( Again, 100% brutal honesty!
This trend sure spread like a disease and it's obvious why it's calling everyone's attention, as it sets itself apart from any other trend I've seen in a while... and after looking at a ZILLION items... I'm slowly starting to see something fun, edgy and different on this trend :) See ? Persistence is always key!
So, this brings me to today's post. I went window shopping the other day, to show you that on this side of the world we've ALSO been Spiked Up! In fact, we're SO SPIKED UP guys... that the TRUE challenge is trying to find something that DOESN'T have spikes OR STUDS.
I promise I'm not exaggerating !
Take a look!
Spiked Leather Clutches and purses in oxblood...
Negative: Don't try looking for your keys in a rush or your least injure will be cracked nail polish!
Positive: No one will try to steal from YOU again!
Spiked Accessories, mostly leather bracelets. So again that combo leather + golden spikes or studs .
Quick Tip: Don't forget to take these off before going to bed!
These lovely nude spiked leather stilettos are from Zara, by the way.
From all these items, THESE spiked stilettos are by far the ones I truly liked spiked! It does give them an updated look.
Plus, nude stilettos are so flattering on everyone's legs, that I would never THINK of criticizing them!
Spiked Sneakers, also from Zara. It was a breath of fresh air to see some silver spikes and studs for a change! I'm not the worn-off sneakers type of gal nowadays, but never say never!
All in all, I'd say I see this trend as innovative, certainly intimidating, but fun and different!
So, cancel those self defense lessons and go buy yourself a couple of the above :P
Now over to YOU girls! Have YOU been spiked TOO?!
And, also, which of the above would you suggest I get for myself?
Let me know in the comments below :)
And, after that, I'll see you on Twitter ... as always!
Like the way you have written this post, I could not stop laughing.
ReplyDeleteI think the spiked shoes could be dangerous, better to stick with a purse or a belt! ;-)

I think the clutch is winning! I'm glad you brought that up. Whenever there is a new trend, some items may be more likely to survive it / outlive it than others. That's one of the key things I think about before buying. Thanks Caroline!
ReplyDeleteI must get my hands on the clutch and purse!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post!
I loves spikes and studs so much, but I had a pair of pumps that actually cut my feet because they were so spiky! xx

ReplyDeleteOh! Skiped Loafers! I'd love to see a picture of that Kristy!
ReplyDeleteI adore the spiked nude heels! Then again, I would have to get the sneakers myself (have you ever seen a woman in heels in a wheelchair?! I looked ridiculous!). They are both gorgeous but as you are ambulent, it is the nudes for me. xoxox
