BEAUTY | 5 DOVE BEAUTY PRODUCTS I KEEP BUYING !

Hi my Inside-Out Beauties !

Before I ever gave Dove products a chance, I was in love with the message this brand delivered to women.  I think it's safe to say, Dove was the first beauty brand to ever start a crusade for women's positive body image with their REAL BEAUTY campaigns. Or at least, it's the first one I can remember.

This is why, Dove is an Inside-Out Beauty Brand [ for me ] whose message I value and can totally relate to.

As if that were not enough, many of you know it is the drugstore hair care brand that I'm loving the most and that I've been trusting my high maintenance and very long hair with, lately.

[ I know!  I'm still in shock that a drugstore hair care brand would perform this well ].

Do you want to know which are the 5 Dove products [ for hands, body & hair ] that I keep buying over and over...?

Just keep reading :)

Here are 5 mini reviews on my favorite Dove beauty products !

#01  Dove Go Fresh Nourishment Body Lotion

I love to apply this lotion to my entire body after a nice long shower.  It leaves a fresh green tea and cucumber scent, and my skin feeling softer for a longer time.

[ And you all know how much I love my beauty allies green tea and cucumber! ]

It's not too oily, and doesn't take that much time for my skin to absorb, which is an important quality I always look for in any Body lotion or moisturizers in general.  From what I've seen at my local drugstore, Dove Go Fresh Nourishment Lotion has 2 formulas, one for normal skin type and the other one for normal to dry.  At this time, I'm using the one for normal skin type.

#02  Dove Damage Therapy Intense Care Overnight Treatment

If your hair has been through a lot, like mine, you need to give this a try.  The whole damage therapy line has been crucial in my hair routine.  As I mentioned on previous posts and video reviews, I came so close to either chopping all my long hair off  or  chemically straightening it because I just couldn't manage my frizzy hair anymore.  I was so frustrated!   This line did not only "tame it down" and help me style it, but it has also made it a lot stronger.  And the secret to why this Dove Damage Therapy line truly repairs your hair lies in  its formula with keratin.

If you want to understand why all hair products with keratin, in general, can effectively help you repair your hair, you should read my Wild to SUPER Straight hair using Keratin post .

In particular, the Dove Damage Therapy Intense Care Overnight Treatment, is a deeper leave in conditioner I apply before going to bed, and my hair is a lot easier to style in the morning.  It is very important that you do not apply this anywhere near your roots, or your hair will look greasy.  But this is generally true for most leave in hair products.

The strongest qualities I find in the whole Damage Therapy Line is that it's not expensive, it's easy to find, and most importantly it works great for me!  3 qualities I never thought I would find on a Drugstore Hair Care brand.

One quick tip I could add to get the most out of this product, even though it doesn't say this on the packaging, is that heat is very important!  Actually, applying heat by blow drying and / or using a flat iron is really important to make any hair product with keratin work, and here's why.

Another thing I do, which helps, but to be honest is not as crucial as applying the overnight treatment and then heat, is using the Damage Therapy Line Shampoo and Conditioner you can see in pictures #03 & #04.  These too contain keratin, but as I said I can alternate shampoo and conditioner without getting dramatic changes in the final result.  I do however feel the need to apply the night treatment before attempting to style my hair.

#05 Dove Cream Wash

Last but not least, I'm loving the Dove Beauty Cream Wash, for my hands.  I'm a tiny bit OCD and tend to wash my hands very frequently :)  As you can imagine, that sure can make your hands feel dryer and tighter if you're not using the right soap.  As you know Dove is famous for adding 1/4 of moisturizing cream on most of its products, and this Cream Wash is no exception.  I always love to feel my hands are clean but it's also very important to feel my skin soft and healthy as well.

The first product I ever bought from Dove was their Original Deodorant (and still do), because its formula with 1/4 of moisturizing cream and alcohol free, makes my armpit's skin feel so much softer than regular deodorants. Who would have thought many years later there would be a whole family of Dove beauty products in my routine, that even though I alternate with other products, I keep buying every time... or at least as long as they keep working for me!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my personal experience with these products girls.
Needless to say, what works for me, may not work for you.
But I'm just glad when I find products that do work for me and what better way of celebrating than sharing!

Now, you tell me... do you like any Dove products I've mentioned or left out?

  2. We still use the Dove soap bar at a daily base. It really doesn't dry out the skin. And I use the daily body lotion with a bit of bronzer in it;) That still is a very populair product here in Holland. The overnight hair treatment sounds good too!

  3. I'm intrigued by the daily bronzer body lotion! Does it stain?

  9. I think my absolutely worst sin is that I don't wear makeup very often. Shameful, I know! I take great care of my skin, hair and nails but still feel like a pre teen when it comes to actually putting makeup on. This is why I have subscribed to you, so I can get over my fear of blusher and gel eyeliner and get lots of tips and tricks. They both send chills up my spine as I wouldn't know the first thing to do with them! Another sin I have is getting stuck in a rut with regards to my skincare. I have used the same routine for about 15 years. Pond's Cold Cream cleanser, French rose water toner and Avon moisuriser .I didn't even know about micellar waters up until 2 days ago!

  10. I have no problems with the lotion staining;) But it tans your body lightly during several days. It's not an instant bronzer.

  11. Thank you so much for subscribing! I do hope my Blog will introduce you to some helpful beauty tips, but I don't think there's nothing wrong with not obsessing about makeup! The thing about skin care, I believe, is that you need to listen to your won skin and update your routine if there are any symptoms that indicate something in it is not quite right. For instance in my case, my skin type changed dramatically one day, so everything I was doing was making things worse. If your rountine is still giving you amazing results even after 15 years, you may want to stick with it. Learning about new products out there that may work even better for you is always interesting though! <3

  16. Thalia - Thriftybelleza.comAugust 13, 2013 at 12:40 AM

I love the Dove Damage Therapy line! It's the perfect fix for my hair. As much as I love my hair straightener, I know that it's done a lot of damage to my hair and has made it dry but this line always keeps it moisturized. Also love the body wash, sometimes I skip applying lotion right out of the shower because it hydrates skin that much! Great review, Heidi :)

  17. Thanks so much for your compliments Thalia! I have to agree 100% with you. Dove helps keep my hair and body a lot more moisturized too !

  20. When people wear way to much blush! I see that as a huge beauty sin, blush is for highlighting your rosy cheeks, not colouring your whole face red!! xx

  21. Great post.... I love dove moisturizing lotion. It improve the gloness of skin. Generally I used Dove and Dermalogica brand for skin care.

  22. When I worked at Sephora a woman came in who I thought was the HOTTEST woman in her early 40's I'd ever seen. The only problem was that her face was covered in large pimples. She told me that she had been sunbathing to reduce the acne breakouts and then got the shock of my life to find out that she was ONLY 23!! All that sunbathing had her skin wrinkled and leathery. Honestly, she has more wrinkles than my mother. She was so beautiful, I couldnt believe she had done that to herself to try to get rid of acne.

  23. Thant's Terrible!!!! I wonder who ever started that myth... they've done so much damage!

  24. Biggest beauty sin for me is when someone wears foundation to the chin and that's it. Blend down onto the neck! (I admit it, when I first started wearing makeup I definitely did this!)

  25. I don't like black liquid eyeliner on both top and bottom lids. There may be a few who can do this look well, but on the vast majority, it just looks plain tacky.
I *do* wear black eyeliner occasionally, but I use a powder/cake formula, and use black on top lids only, very close to the roots of my lashes. I line the lower lashline with a soft matte eyeshadow in taupe or plum.

  26. I agree, Maddie!
I have full cheeks, and many's the time I've been told that I "need" to put brown powder on the sides of my face to "make it look thinner."
I've tried it( in private!), and I end up just looking dirty. Instead, I aim for clear, smooth skin, with a soft flush along my cheekbones. If I have a round face, I have a round face.

  27. That is sick!
I had acne when I was a teen, and, even at 50, still get the occasional pimple (I have one now, for example). When I was younger, I thought that the best approach was to try to dry the heck out of my super-oily skin. I never heard about the sun-bathing myth, fortunately, or I might have tried it.
Eventually, I discovered that my skin responded better to gentle treatment, and these days I often get complimented on my "pretty complexion" and "that creamy skin."

  28. LOL True! And of course, we're all guilty of that one at some point :)

  29. Hi lovely Carla! I think you do have a point there! I have noticed that my eyes can look "cold" if I wear liquid black eyeliner on top and bottom lids.
