BLOGGING | HOW TO MOVE YOUR BLOG SUBSCRIPTIONS FROM GOOGLE READER TO BLOGLOVIN

Happy Friday my Inside-Out Beauties!

Starting today I've moved all my Google Reader Blogs to Bloglovin reader.   To be 100% honest I gave this a lot of thought.  It took me a while to decide whether to go with Bloglovin or not, and after doing some research I finally made up my mind and here I am!

For those of you interested in taking the leap too, or those who already have but thought moving your blogs from Google Reader was not possible or too difficult, here's a quick tutorial on how to import your blogs from Google Reader to Bloglovin.

So keep reading for an EASY Step by Step guide with pictures and everything, that will get you moved to Bloglovin in 5 minutes!

Let's get started!

First thing you need to do is export your blogs from Google Reader. That's kind of the most complicated step, but hold on there, we'll get trough it together.  Now, Google has a tool / app for this ( love you Google! )  and it's called Google Takeout.  To use Google Takeout, all you need to so is Google "Google Takeout" or simple click on this link: https://www.google.com/takeout/  .

Once you're there, it will require you to login with your gmail account.  Just do that, and it will take you straight inside Google Takeout.  In your Dashboard, you need to select Google Reader from your services.  If you can't find / see that, just click on this link, and it should take you to the page in the screenshot above these lines.  On this page, all you need to do is click on the CREATE ARCHIVE button (see the pink arrow above).

Third step is to download the files.  If you've gotten this far, this is actually pretty straight forward.  As you can see in the picture above, you just need to click on the DOWNLOAD button.  Please, remember where in your computer you're downloading your file to.
Now, here comes something really important.  The file you've downloaded on this step will be a .zip file with many files inside.  What you actually need for to import to BlogLovin is a file called subscriptions.xml .  That file is inside your Google Reader's Takeout zip file.  So go to the location where you've downloaded that, unzip and search for "subscriptions.xml".   Again, leave that little file in a location you will remember, because we're going to need it in the next step.

For Step 4, you will need to be logged in to Bloglovin and then click on the menu that slides below your picture, and choose the option "import from Google Reader".  If you can't see it / find it, once logged in click on this link.  Simpler, right?

Now that you're in the import blogs section, you need to go look for the little subscriptions.xml file we exported before from Google Reader, using Google Takeout... remember?  So, just click on the BROWSE button, as highlighted above, and go find it and select it on your computer.

Final step is to click the UPLOAD button, and wait for the file to be imported to Bloglovin.  Depending on the size of your file it may take more or less time... but once it's up you're done!
