This week, I focused one more time in eating a lot healthier.
I guess by now you're used to reading about my chats with my nutritionist.
Last time, we discussed about how our modern society has highly processed food around each corner. With the hectic lives we all live, it is so easy to make a mistake and go for junk/fast food.
I had noticed how, when I only went for plain and unprocessed foods, my weight was stable or even dropped easily. "Imagine cavemen" I said to her "they went hunting, or cultivated their food.
In nature, there is no bread, cakes, pasta or chocolate. There is meat, vegetables, grains and foods.
So nowadays, not only do we not not hunt nor cultivate, but we sit in front of a computer most of the day. Gaining weight seems to be just the obvious consequence".
she said this diet I mentioned made of unprocessed foods, that the ancient men and women followed, actually had a name and it was called the Paleolithic Diet.
The Paleolithic Diet is nothing else than going back to our origins. And eating the way we've been intended to eat. "Did you know that human genetics have scarcely changed in so many years and therefore the ideal diet for human health should still resemble this ancestral diet?" she said.
No, I didn't know that, but it sure made sense to me!
Take, for instance, bread... Making bread from the grain to the final product out of the oven, or even to the shelf of your supermarket takes A LONG process.
The grain itself is in nature, no question about that.
But flour is a highly processed product with high concentrations of that grain. Concentrations that we would not normally have access to in nature.
I could probably go on and on with so many examples, but I'm sure you're already thinking of many yourselves.
The most important thing my nutritionist said to me is that it is now believed that the Paleolithic Diet is the only real solution to the world's growing weight related health issues.
Ok, so what can we do about this? I'll tell you what I did! I went grocery shopping and stocked myself with healthy natural unprocessed foods. Mostly fish, fruits and veggies! This goes to explain my Instagram Pictures below :)
Don't these look amazing?
I had to take pictures to show you girls, in case you were wondering how vegetables in Argentina looked like. (It may sound silly, but having traveled quite a bit I have discovered these vary a lot from one country to the next!).
So, these past few days, I've been drinking orange juice for breakfast, snacking apples and grapes, eating grilled egg plants for lunch and fish or chicken with tomato salad for dinner.
Even if I don't do this Paleolithic Diet perfectly for the rest of my life. I sure have set an internal goal to try to eat this way at least 4-5 times a week.
I will keep you updated on how this goes :)
Now it's your turn!
Let me know in the comments below what YOU think about the Paleolithic Diet!
