FOOD | ♥ How to Eat Pasta WITHOUT Gaining Weight! ♥

 Ciao Ragazze!  Hi Girls!

We all know carbs are on everyone's DON'T list when it comes to losing weight or even keeping it down.  I am the type of girl that needs to keep an eye on the quality and quantity of what I eat, to maintain a healthy weight and for that reason I visit a nutritionist for advise once or twice a year.

On my last visit, I picked up a GREAT tip on How to Eat Pasta WITHOUT gaining weight!  And today I thought I'd share my learnings with YOU on this post!

So here are my tips for eating pasta and not regretting it afterwards!

1 ♥  When Can You Eat It!
Pasta, as well as other carbs, should preferably be consumed before or at noon (at the latest) and never for dinner.
And the reason is that, this way, you have the entire afternoon and evening to burn those calories off before going to bed.  The important thing is that you use those calories/energy you're incorporating and put them to work!
So, in other words, pasta is something you should eat for lunch.
I typically eat it on a Saturday or a Sunday, because I have more free time to even go for a short walk afterwards!

2 ♥  How Often Can You Eat It
If you struggle with keeping a healthy weight, you should do like me and only eat pasta 2-3 times a MONTH!  So, that means every other Saturday OR Sunday ONLY (in my case).

3 ♥  What to eat it WITH!

Now, here comes the most interesting part of this post!
There's a special "formula" when it comes to preparing pasta and this has to do with the right combination of ingredients in your plate.
It's really easy!

Your plate of Pasta should have:

1/3 of Pasta

1/3 of Vegetables

1/3 of Protein

1 tablespoon of Olive Oil  

NOTE:  Stay away from CREAM & use low fat CHEESE ONLY (if you're the type that MUST have cheese with your pasta)!

So, as an example, in the picture on the right is the pasta I had last Sunday for lunch.
On that pasta plate there's:

♥ 125 grams of pasta
♥ 1/2 can of Tuna

Chopped Tomatoes
♥ 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil

Now, before you even say it, I realize it DOES look like it's mostly pasta in that picture!
But that's because most of the tuna & tomato was down below when I took it :P

So, the reasons for this "formula" are:

♥ First, you eat less pasta!
♥ Second, the vegetables and protein make you feel fuller!
And third, the fiber in the vegetables, makes you absorb less carbs!

Isn't this amazing?!

I wish someone had told me THIS years ago, because as an Italian I LOVE pasta!

I definitely would avoid eating it, if I was looking to LOSE weight though :(

  2. That's awesome - thank you for this post. I'm totally hooked on the Koka noodles (tomato flavour only!), and wondered if noodles count in the same category as pasta, or if that is a silly question (!).
    As a veggie I was thinking of swapping the tuna for Quorn mince - and then I remembered that I love that veggie mince enough to skip the pasta altogether, which would be brilliant for me, trying to lose 20lbs!
    Anyway, thank you again for this :)
