Hi my Inside-Out Beauties!

Let me share with you the story behind my Skin Care Routine video.
A few months ago, I started having some rosacea flares and a few breakouts.
I´m really pale, so if I have bad breakouts they really show and I have high risks for having scars, even though I try to avoid touching my face at all costs.

At first, I thought it was just a phase, or a "hormonal" thing...  Then I started to worry a bit...
But as they persisted for over a month I was starting to accept the fact that my skin would be like this...
Resignation is not my thing, so it was not long until I went to my dermatologist.
She made me go about once a month, during 3 months, for very soft chemical peels.
That soothed my skin a bit, and soften some tiny scars, but I can´t say I found the solution for me.
I forgot to mention, I´ve had oily skin all my life, or to be honest, during my teenage years.

Then one day, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong...

My skin had CHANGED.  It had gone from OILY to COMBINATION and EXTRA SENSITIVE.  But I had NOT changed my skin care routine accordingly...

So in a way, my skin was over reacting to all the products I was using to calm its supposed oiliness.

It was its way of TALKING to me, of  TELLING me... STOP that!

Of course, I had not realized this.  I would have never thought my skin needed a LOT MORE MOISTURIZING now, among other things...

So I went from NEUTRAL SOAP, which as you probably know is REALLY DRYING (wonderful for acne, of course) to Clinique's Liquid Facial Soap Extra Mild.
And by researching on other Clinique solutions over YouTube, I found it had a Redness Solution line too!

Imagine my skin was SOOO SENSITIVE at that point that I was EVEN SENSITIVE to Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (which is high tolerance for all skin types).

Fortunately, Clinique's Redness Solutions Daily Moisturizing Cream worked wonders!

I was SOOO relieved!  I noticed how refreshing and soothing it was for my rosacea flares the FIRST time I applied it.

Then, I started using Apricot Scrub, as my exfoliator.  This is a drugstore product you can get almost anywhere in the world!  At first, due to my sensitivity, I used it once or twice a week.  Now I can use it maybe 3 times a week.  And it does leave my skin really soft and more even.

Although I´m very pleased with Apricot Scrub, I may be trying other Clinique exfoliators in the future.  Maybe chemical ones...

I´m particularly interested in trying Clinique's 7 day Scrub... I´ll let you know more when I do.

The last thing I did was change my foundation.
I understand this may not sound as part of my daily skin care routine, but it actually WAS!
Whatever I was doing right with my other products, I would certainly RUIN with the wrong foundation.
I did a lot of research on this too...  And it all came down to a list of all the things I would need from my foundation:

- SPF 15
- Not Oily, but not too Dry either
- Non comedogenic
- Good coverage
- Hypoallergenic

Bear in mind, this is not a Clinique advertisement...  But with everything that Clinique´s Redness Solution Cream had done for me at that point, it was only natural I would go safe on this one and look for Clinique alternatives.
To sum up, I switched to Clinique Almost Powder foundation, and it worked perfectly!

Now, to be fair, after my worst flares were under control, I became more aware of how much I was spending on some of these products.  Specially Clinique´s Mild Cleanser, which I run out of fairly quickly.
So, I tried Cetaphyl Mild Cleanser and IT WORKED PERFECTLY TOO!
I don´t think I´ll look for a replacement for the foundation or the Redness Solution Daily Relief Cream for a long time though...

Oh, yes!  And one more thing...  I was almost replacing water with diet sodas at the time I got those rosacea flares...  BIG, BIG mistake!  I cut back on those and watched my water intake and saw DRAMATIC changes in just ONE week...  I know it´s OBVIOUS, but I was just NOT DOING IT before!

The moral of this story is:  LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! DON´T FIGHT IT.  It IS TELLING YOU WHAT IT NEEDS.  So, WORK WITH IT, LEARN FROM IT to understand what's best for YOU.

My LAST piece of advise, is DON´T SETTLE and keep looking for the RIGHT SOLUTION for YOU!
You´re UNIQUE, so what works for others may not work for you.  HEY!  Even what works for you one day, may not be what works for you the next day... so DON´T GET DISCOURAGED!  We´re ALIVE and, hence in CONSTANT CHANGE!
